Day 9 - August 9, 2010

This may be gross...... fair warning!

Allan and I got our first apartment and moved in July 11, 2010. When we first moved in, the landlord told us the previous tenant was his nephew.... we could tell.

The refrigerator smelled like who knows what, the freezer smelled like frozen pizza and the inside of the microwave was unrecognizable! Well, that was not all....... we looked at the tub and noticed it was stained.... a lot.

I wish I had a picture of it in it's original state because it honestly looked like it was stained with bleach, ie: spots that were lighter on the base of the shower in the pattern of drips and typical "liquid patterns" if that makes sense.

We weren't concerned, it was just surface appearance right? Wrong. I looked closer at it and it started to look like grime. Well, I went to Target yesterday and picked up some bathroom cleaner that I swear by (Scrubbing bubbles) and decided that if it was indeed dirt, this would surely lift it.

So last night I sprayed some on the base of the tub and grabbed the brush to see if anything would lift, and sure enough.... it did. I spent about 5-10 minutes scrubbing one spot on the tub to assess that it was dirt, and then decided to attack it this morning.

I took a picture of it from this morning before I scrubbed it and after, so that is my photo for today. The before and after of my 1.5 hour scrub session with my bath tub. The bright side... I can now take a bubble bath in it!

This isn't even as clean and I could get it, if you look closely you can see in the some of the corners there is still some scrubbing that needs to happen. Unfortunately, my hands were so jittery from scrubbing so long that I HAD to stop and take a break.

Don't say I didn't warn you!!!

Day 8 - August 8, 2010

I have now caught up! I am impressed I only fell one day behind.

So, today I am posting my favorite picture from my soon to be brother-in-law's wedding. I did take this picture myself, I just didn't take it today. So it may or may not count, but I don't care....it counts for me!

Their wedding was June 26, 2010 so it was before the start of this project... therefore.... I feel I am entitled to use it. And with that, I give you Nick and Jessica.

Day 7 - August 7, 2010

So this is a little late, I had a very busy weekend!

Allan and I were helping a friend move yesterday and today, so in their honor.... I have a picture of THEIR cat instead of my own! Haha!

Introducing..... Durden......

Day 5 - August 5, 2010

I am quite surprised I am making this post. I thought I would end up posting day 5 tomorrow morning because I work late Thursday nights. But, here I am, making my post.

So here is today's picture!

Maggie received a promise ring from her boyfriend Brian on her birthday.... and I was there to witness it all. :D

Day 4 - August 4, 2010

As previously promised, I have a picture that is NOT of my cats. It's actually of my recent DIY project for the wedding. It was my first attempt and I'm sure I will be making more an perfecting it.

So.... here it is!

My Garter!

I decided that after looking at how expensive garters can get, I wanted to try and make one myself. I think for my first attempt... it didn't come out half bad! I am going to make another attempt at it soon and see if I can make it a little bit better.

Day 3 - August 3, 2010

So here we are, Day 3 and I am still on track. Impressive considering I actually had to work today, the past two days I have had off so I have had NO problem taking pictures.

I promise you that the entire blog will not revolve around my cats, but I could not resist this picture of my other cat, Sarah. I put some catnip on the scratching board and she went NUTS.

Day 2 - August 2, 2010

Hello Day 2! Well, I'm already doing better than I thought! I honestly thought this would be one of those things I would do for a day, then skip four, then do it again. So congrats to me for posting another picture on the day it's due. For some reason, it almost feels like homework.... but in a good way!

So, here is picture number 2. Surprisingly, It is yet another picture of my cat, Salem. He was soooo determined to get me to open the sliding glass door today. He looked rather pathetic (in a cute way) trying to figure out how to get to the birds on our deck.

Day 1 - August 1, 2010

As the official first day, I thought it was fitting to take a picture of the "person" who has been in my life for the past 11 years. Yes, he has aged gracefully.

His name is Salem and he is one of two kitties who live with me. (They own the house, he just keeps me around to open the food can). He has quite the personality if you couldn't tell from his body language in this picture. He has officially claimed my arm chair.

Welcome!

This blog is dedicated to a new project I am going to ATTEMPT to stick to for the next year. The challenge: Take a picture everyday for the next YEAR. Yes, all 365 days of the year. It all starts today.

So now, you get to see my life through a lens.
